The least invasive option that will work

Scans, medicines and surgery are recommended when they change the outcome, and not otherwise. Patients have described being offered a cast under anaesthesia where others advised wiring, and being told that three months of tablets would resolve a problem — which it did, without an MRI or X-ray.

Pre-operative preparation and post-operative follow-up are treated as part of the treatment, not an afterthought — including staying involved through difficult recoveries.
